What is the most popular car in San Francisco? ›

Taxi fares start at $3.50, and each additional mile tacks on another $3 or so, with every minute you spend stuck in traffic costing $0.55. You don't need a car to explore central San Francisco; most of the top sites are within walking distance or are easily reached by the Muni.

It is possible to get around SF without a vehicle. 'Comfortably' depends on your perspective. MUNI bussing and rail can take you from one end of the City to another - it should, given how SF covers a mere 49 square miles. AC Transit, it is definitely not.
