AIRFRIER ONION RINGS RECIPE

To make this quick and easy Air-fryer appetiser, DREDGING TECHNIQUE& BREADING is used.

Also one important tip to remember is to use one hand for wet ingredients and the other hand for dry ingredients.

First prep the onions by peeling the skin and cutting the tips off. Wash the onions and wipe it dry.

Cut the onion to about 1 cm thick. You could use a single layer of the onion ring or use two layers if the onions layer is thin.

Arrange the wet ingredients and dry ingredients mixture in a shallow dish.

So what is Dredging? It is a basic cooking process of coating the food with wet ingredient and then further dipping it in dry bread crumbs mixture before frying. The whole idea of dredging & breading the onion into wet mix and then dry mix is to achieve a nice brown crunchy coating.

Arrange 4 or 5 Onion Rings in the air fryer basket and air fry for 8- 10 minutes, shaking once in between.

Remove the golden brown airfryer keto onion rings on paper towels. Serve hot with a dipping sauce like boom boom sauce or bang bang sauce.

Air-fryer Onion Rings are a great appetiser option that uses NO OIL. Serve these VEGAN onion rings along with your favourite burger. Simply delicious!!

Ingredients

  • 2 White Onions

Ingredients for Dry Mix

  • 1 Cup Vegan Panko Bread Crumbs
  • 1/2 Tsp Turmeric
  • 1/2 Tsp Smoked Paprika Powder
  • Salt as needed

Ingredients for Wet Mix

  • 1 Cup APF Flour or GF flour
  • 1 Cup Plant based milk
  • 1/2 Tsp Turmeric
  • 1/2 Tsp Smoked Paprika Powder
  • 1/4 Tsp Pepper
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Cut the tips of the Onion and peel them. Wash the Onions and pat them dry Gently cut 1 cm thick disks. Carefully pull out the inner disk and separate them. If the onion rings are too thin, allow them to have an extra layer.

  • In a small mixing bowl, add all the ingredients for wet mix and whisk them smooth. Batter mix should be thick enough to coat the florets well.

  • Gently mix all the dry ingredients and set the shallow bowl aside.

  • Dip the onion rings individually into the wet batter mix, shake off any excess and then coat them with breadcrumbs from the dry mix.

  • Repeat this process.

  • Preheat the Air fryer to 400 degree (200 C ) for 4 minutes. Pull the basket from the air fryer and place the onion rings in them. Slide it back in the air fryer and fry for 9-10 minutes until brown.

  • Don't forget to check in between and give it good shake so that the onion rings do not stick together.

  • Repeat the process three times to make rest of the Onion Rings.

Prepare two shallow dish – One for dry ingredients and one for wet ingredients. Fork the dry ingredients well and use a whisk to bring together the wet ingredients.

Dip the onion rings into the wet batter, shake off the excess.Using a fork, place the onion ring coated with wet batter into the panko breadcrumbs mixture. Using a dry hand, cover the onion rings well with the breading mixture.

Arrange 4 or 5 Onion Rings in a pre heated Air-fryer

Air fry the onion rings for 8- 10 minutes, shaking once in between. Repeat the process with the rest of the Onion rings. Serve the prepared onion rings with tomato ketchup.
