FAQs (2024)

1. Why do I have to order online this year?

We are excited to announce the ease of our new online store to order stollen! This will enable us to fill more orders, track and ship orders more efficiently, and allow you to order conveniently from your home or office any time of day or night. You will also be able to keep your credit card information completely private through our secure check-out page. In years past we were able to manage with our paper filing system, but as the demand for our delicious products have increased, it made sense to eliminate any extra steps that could delay or prevent orders from being processed and filled on time! We will be more than happy to help guide you through the process if you are unsure of how to use the system. Thank you for your continued business!

2. What do I do if I ship to multiple people?

When you create a user account in our online store, your personal information, as well as all your shipping addresses, are saved to make purchasing easy. First, create an account. Then, enter your information. Next, add as many different shipping addresses as you would like. Then, choose the gifts and addthem to your shopping bag. At checkout, choose which gifts go towhich addresses. (If you are having trouble, go to your shopping bag, underneath "Proceed to Checkout", there will be an option to "Ship to Multiple Addresses".) Alternatively, you may place separate orders for each recipient. Then all your friends and family will have been taken care of!

3. What is the difference between your two kinds of stollen?

It's the type of fruit inside, the spice, and the alcohol used! Our European Stollen has orange and lemon citron, spiced with cardamum and soaked in brandy, topped with lemon sugar. The Black Cat Stollen has plums, apricots and pears, spiced with nutmeg and soaked in rum, topped with almond struesel.

4. How many people will a stollen or coffee cake feed?

You will get about 16 small slices from either stollen and 6-8 slices from a Huckleberry Sour Cream Coffee Cake.

5. Why do you sell stollen only during the holidays?

Stollen is traditionally eaten and exchanged during the holiday in Germany. We carry on this tradition by offering our mail-order stollen at this time of year only. Our coffee cakes are available year-round for purchase at our local retail shop.

6. What are your usual shipping dates to ensure my stollen arrives by Christmas?

You may specify a date to have us ship by if you would like your stollen to arrive on a certain day. Generally, all stollen and coffee cakes are shipped no later than the 20th of December to ensure that you receive them before Christmas.

7. Do you ship internationally?

We are unable to ship internationally at this time. We apologize for any incovenience this may cause.

8. How much are shipping costs?

Wecurrently offer free shipping! We ship USPS, 2-3 days, not guaranteed. If you'd like us to send your order via FedEx, please give us a call. Additional charges may apply.

9. How long will my stollen or coffee cake last?

Stollen will last up to a year if you keep it frozen, but we recommend eating it within 6 months for best flavor. At room temperature (under cool and dry conditions) stollen will last for weeks, but refrigeration will extend it’s life substantially. Coffee cake should be refrigerated and eaten within a few weeks for best flavor, but may also be frozen for up to 4 months if wrapped well.

10. Do I need to refrigerate or freeze my stollen or coffee cake?

If you do not plan to eat it within a few weeks, we recommend freezing it. You may store your stollen in a cool and dry place, such as a bread box, or refrigerate to extend the shelf life. Coffee cake should be refrigerated and then just reheat to serve!

11. Can I toast or microwave my stollen or coffee cake?

Absolutely! Some people prefer their stollen warmed and with a pat of butter. Eat it however you like best!

12. How do I serve my sour cream coffee cake?

Eat within a few days of receiving your coffee cake, or freeze until ready to serve. If your cake is frozen, allow a few hours for it to thaw at room temperature. Pre-heat your oven to 275*. Remove your coffee cake from the cake circle and doily and place on a sheet pan, heating for 15-20 minutes. Slice and enjoy!

13. What are the brown spots in the sugar coating on top of my stollen?

Because we soak our fruit overnight before mixing into our bread, after baking they continue to release juices which moisten flavor the stollen. If the fruit is close to the topping, these juices stain the sugar brown. Your stollen is still perfectly safe to eat and hasn’t gone bad.
