The Story Behind the Seasoning

When thinking about spice cabinets all over America, Italian Seasoning is one that is sure to be found in almost every single one. With so many people turning towards organics for their food preparation, we decided that an organic option of this classic spice blend was necessary to have on hand. There are very few people that can say the scent of all the herbs and spices at an Italian restaurant don't automatically transport them to a mythical land of good food, fine wine, and unusually loud laughter. We decided we should incorporate something into our inventory that would provide for the organic crowd while also remaining familiar and delicious. Organic Italian Seasoning it was.

In authentic Italian cooking, one will usually find only one or two herbs called for, though occasionally you will see the need for a few more. This seasoning blend is perfect for those instances, or for when you feel like adding a little something extra to your old family sauce recipe.

What's in Organic Italian Seasoning?

Our Organic Italian Seasoning is made of Organic Rosemary, Organic Basil, Organic Mediterranean Oregano, Organic Sage and Organic Marjoram. It is hand blended.

What's the Difference Between Italian Seasoning and Pizza Seasoning?

Italian seasoning is usually compromised of only different kinds of herbs, while pizza seasoning is usually herbs with some other ingredients like crushed red pepper and red bell peppers. These peppers are typically added to the blend because of the American tradition of spicing up pizza with red pepper flakes. Pizza seasoning is especially useful when eating a bland frozen pizza. It can transform the pizza from something less than flavorful to an enjoyable food eating experience.

Flavor Profile

Our Organic Italian Seasoning has a mellow, rich, savory herbal flavor.

What Do You Use Italian Seasoning For?

This spice blend can be used in any pasta dish to enhance the flavor immensely. The lovely herbal notes will provide a more robust flavor to any pasta dish, particularly if it has a tomato based sauce.

Mix this blend in with some olive oil for dipping bread. When baking chicken, first coat it in an olive oil and Organic Italian Seasoning blend mixture and proceed. The result will be a deliciously herbal tasting chicken. You can use it on meats before grilling for a similarly subtle herbaceous flavor.

It is excellent when mixed with butter, garlic, and parmesan for a delicious garlic bread spread.

This blend tastes incredible on vegetables like potatoes, carrots, squash, or eggplants. Mushrooms are delicious with these flavors as well. Try frying some up in olive oil and adding some of this blend to them just as they are about to be pulled from the heat. The flavor will permeate without disappearing completely, which is common in cooking if the herbs are added too early. Sprinkle some Sazon Seasoning on them to finish it all off while creating a delightful Latin American/ Mediterranean fusion dish.

A good recipe for how to make an easy Italian dressing is to add three tablespoons of organic Italian seasoning, a half tablespoon of red pepper flakes, two cloves of chopped garlic, and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to a half cup of olive oil. Stir them up and you'll have a lovely, light dressing that can take the place of any store-bought dressing or used as a marinade for chicken. You could remove the red pepper flakes from the recipes if you wanted something less spicy.
