Parent reviews for Scream (2024)

July 6, 2017

age 14+

Most 14 year-olds will be able to handle Scream. Many younger kids could too, but no one younger than 11 should be watching

Scream is a very good show. I honestly think it may be better than the movie. At first I was a little worried that it would be a total failure and I would get bored, but I ended up watching the first season within 4 days and the second within a week of when I ended the first season. It really turned out to be a great show. What I liked about it that the movie couldn't really do was really got into some of the characters personalities and show the changes in the characters when the events took place. Emma, for example, feels really different during and after the events of the first season. Both the movie and the T.V show have very good twists and unpredictable bits. What makes this show inappropriate is the violence and sex. There was little cussing to my surprise. The violence is kind of what you would expect from a slasher. It is bloody and semi-realistic. What makes the violence feel worse though is that the killer sometimes finds some sick ways to kill people. Not quite "Saw" sick but still pretty intense and disturbing. Now for the sex. The sex scenes are actually not very inappropriate, to be honest. There is no nudity in the kissing scenes or sex scenes and there are barely any sex scenes anyway. Now for the talk about how scary it is. Scream wasnt very scary to be honest. It did have its moments but mostly the whole thing was just intense. I guess it is scary enough to make you a little worried whenever you are alone and its dark but not much more. Its probably a little scarier than the movie. In the end, Scream is a great show but odes have some iffy content. It really just depends on your teen.

This title has:

  • Too much violence
