In case you missed it, country queen and all-around American treasure Dolly Parton was in the headlines this week with some sweet news: her partnership with Duncan Hines expanded with six brand new baking and cooking mixes in stores now. We were lucky enough to chat with Dolly about the collaboration, and learned that she loves a big breakfast, picks chocolate cake over vanilla, and has to have a sweet treat in the house for when the midnight munchies hit—alongside a glass of milk, of course.

But when it comes to the one food she can't live without, the one she could snack on every day and never grow tired of, it's no sweet treat at all. Dolly Parton's favorite is none other than the humble potato.

Dolly Parton Can't Live Without Potatoes

In case you thought she couldn't get any more relatable, Dolly told Allrecipes, "I've always been a potato person, even if it's a mashed potato, or a French fry, or if I just baked a potato." Yes, the "Backwoods Barbie" enjoys the simpler things in life, specifically the spuds.

"I always say, and it's always the truth, that every diet I ever fallen off was because of a potato of some kind. Because I can only go so many days without having a 'tater fix' as I call it."

If you're a Dolly fan, you will know this is not the first time she's admitted her total love for the tubers. Parton went viral about a year ago with a hilarious TikTok claiming, "Potato, potato, potato—I never met a spud I didn't like." (We can't help but point out how fitting it is that Dolly's character's husband in "Steel Magnolias" was named Spud.)

As for her go-to preparation, Parton loves a good baked potato (us, too!). It couldn't be easier, and you can make it even better loaded up with cheese, butter, and sour cream. But Parton assured us, toppings or not, she'll take "any old tater."

Dolly may be known as the Queen of Country, but she's also the queen of comfort food. From her family recipes like Stone Soup and Walnut Pie to the famous cinnamon bread at Dollywood, it's clear Dolly grew up on good Southern cooking. Lucky for us, she's willing to share her recipes, and even give us the shortcuts to make them even easier at home. Because who wouldn't want a little bit of Dolly in their kitchen?

Jolene may have taken her man, but don't even think of coming between Dolly and her taters. We know we'll be thinking of her (and the absolutely perfect way she says "spud") each time we make a baked potato from here on out.
