How do you get the keys for Zipcar? ›

How do I get into my Zipcar? To lock and unlock your car, use the app or tap your Zipcard to the reader on the driver's side windshield of the car. The car keys will be located inside the Zipcar, typically in the console or attached to the ignition.

No matter where or how long you drive, 180 miles are included per day for most membership plans. Any overage is billed at $. 58 per mile.

All members are able to access Zipcars in areas of poor or no cellular reception. All of our US vehicles have Bluetooth® technology which allows you to lock, unlock, start, and end trips on all Zipcars from the iPhone® or Android™ app.

Additionally, Zipcars also have an on‑board device that may monitor the state of the vehicle from moment to moment whether or not in a reservation, and the information may include its location and driver behavior monitoring such as crash detection factors or rate of braking or acceleration.

You can book a Zipcar for as little as one hour or as long as 14 days at a time. Bookings can be made in half-hour increments. When booking, keep in mind that the Zipcar you booked is available for others to reserve before and after your reservation.

Zipcar may report to the authorities any use of a Zipcar vehicle or other activities that are in violation of applicable laws and/or regulations. 2.3 Zipcar may immediately suspend or terminate the use of its service by any Member for a violation of any of these Rules.

Yes, in most cases, mileage is included with your Zipcar trip. There's never a limit on how far you can drive your Zipcar, but there is a limit on how many of those miles are covered for free.

Only active members are allowed to drive Zipcars. If you have a family account, other drivers on your account are authorized to drive the Zipcar. If a Zipcar member on a different account is driving the Zipcar you reserved, we ask you be along for the ride.

No, the car keys should stay in the Zipcar at all times. To lock & unlock your Zipcar, use your iPhone® or Android™ mobile app or Zipcard.

To lock & unlock with the Zipcar app:

Once you're next to the vehicle, tap unlock. If Bluetooth is not connected, the app will guide you to enable this permission. It's required to access our vehicles via the app. When you're leaving the vehicle, be sure to tap lock from the same screen as before.

Returning the keys

At the end of every reservation you will need to return the keys to the holder inside the glove box. Slot the bullet shaped fob on the key ring into the slot. You'll know when you've returned the keys correctly as the little LED will turn from Red to Green.
